To self-publish or not to self-publish – That is the question?

Why should an author consider self-publishing?

Since we started, two years ago, we have worked with a wide range of authors across different genres at different stages of their writing careers who have arrived at the decision to self-publish for different reasons. The most common amongst these are: that they wanted to keep creative control and do things their way, that there is the potential to make more money as you keep a higher percentage of the selling price, that you retain all copyrights (just double-check your contracts, there are some sharks that will try and take the rights, so make sure you’re only granting a licence), and the speed to market can be much quicker – in a traditional model from when you first submit to a literary agent to the day you see your book published is usually about two years, but can be longer.
