One of the best ways to get known in the
literary world is by faking it until you make it. Instead of approaching
situations and people as if you are merely a one book author self-published on
Amazon, approach everything as if you are the next big writing star.
Attitude is everything and I can say with
some conviction that I used this exact approach as I crawled my way to the top.
When I first started writing I was just a girl from a small town in Wisconsin.
I had no website, no background in writing, no following, no computer skills,
no editing skills and no concept of the literary world.
But what I had that no school, agent or
publishing house could ever have taught me was an attitude and belief that I
was a best-seller, I was a rock star writer and I was a person who people
should take notice of. I never wavered
on this belief. Every single time I was in the position of selling myself and
my work I sold it as if investing in me was as good as investing in gold.
It did not take long for people to start to
believe in me as well. Heck if I could think so highly of myself surly there
must be something worthwhile in what I was doing. One by one opportunities began to come into
my life and before I knew it there was less faking it and more making it.
Now I’m not telling you to be false or
untrue to who you are and what you stand for. All I’m saying is give yourself
some credit, prop your bum up on a pedestal and let the world know you are
worth your weight in gold! What you put out into the universe as a belief will
come back to you. So from this day forward my friends, we are all best-sellers!

ReplyDeleteThanks for that motivating piece, Kim! You have to believe in yourself first, I'm realising that more and more. x
